Speedup Paddle

This block will cause the mouse sensitivity to
increase which is essense causes your paddle to speed up. This block
doesn't do to much by itself, but just wait until you get a few... Let's
just say, you better not have a hand twitch.
|
|
No Control

This block will cancel the paddle control on the
ball. Typically the ball's direction will be controlled based on the
position that you hit the ball on the paddle. After hitting this block
the ball will just keep bouncing in the same direction
|
|
Auto Control

This block will cause the ball to be controlled by
paddle movement. When you move the paddle to the right, the ball moves
to the right. When you move the paddle to left, the ball moves to the
left. Fortunately it doens't quite move as much as the paddle.
|
|
Extra Points

This block will score bonus points. The higher the
level that you are on the greater the number of points scored for this
block. Go for the high levels!!!
|
|
Bonus Multiplier

This block will increase your bonus multiplier.
You start out with no multiplier. Each Bonus Multiplier block that you
hit will increase your multiplier by one. With one hit, you will be
double... Two, triple... Three, quadruple... etc. This bonus is applied
each time that you score! You lose your multiplier when you lose your
ball.
|
|
Ball Control

This block will give you control of the ball when
a mouse button is pressed. If you move the paddle left, with a mouse
button pressed, the ball will move left... vice versa for right. This is
similar to the Auto Control block, but now you have control! HINT: When
the ball beside some blocks, pull on the mouse hard to the side. You can
take out a lot of blocks this way.
|
|
Normal Block

This is your everyday average block with nothing
special. Just hit the block and it goes away.
|
|
Double Block

This is your everyday average block with just a
little specialness. It takes two hits to get rid of this one. After the
first hit, it becomes a normal block.
|
|
Triple Block

This is not quite your everyday average block with
nothing special. It takes THREE hits to get rid of this one. After the
first hit, it becomes a double block, then another hit and it will be a
normal block.
|
|
Quad Block

This is definitely not your everyday average block
with nothing special. It takes FOUR hits to get rid of this one. After
the first hit, it becomes a triple block, then another hit and it will
be a double block. Yet one more, and it becomes a normal block. Finally,
with the forth hit, the block is gone. I sure pity you if there is a
heap of these guarding the exit block!
|
|
Exit Block

How would you get off a level without an exit
block. This block, when hit, will take you to the next level. Unlike
many other breakout style games, in YABOG you do not have to clear all
the blocks. You have to hit the exit block (or level warp).
|
|
Exploding Block

This block is also known as the bomb block. When
you hit it, not only does it go away, but it takes out all the blocks
around it with a big BANG! Actually there isn't a big BANG, but all the
blocks are taken away.
|
|
Extra Ball

Now here's a block worth fightin' for! This block
as the name implies will give you an extra ball. This block is worth
gold when you get to those hard levels!
|
|
Indestructible Block

Aaarrrrrggggggg! This block won't go away! I guess
that is why it is called Indestructible! I hope for your sake there
aren't too many of these down too low!
|
|
Invisible Block

But I didn't think there was a block there... That
is what you will be saying after you hit a couple of these. They
certainly don't look like they are there, but believe me they are! After
one hit they become visible as a normal block... Then they take one more
hit to be rid of them.
|
|
Level Warp

Do you want to get to those higher levels faster?
Then aim for the Level Warp block. This block can take you as many as
three levels ahead... depending on how the computer is feeling. It
functions like an exit block, except it will take you 1 to 3 levels up.
|
|
Magno Paddle

This is the super Magno Paddle. When you hit this
block, it will energize your paddle and make it become magnetic. Every
time the ball gets near (since it is stainless steel) it will stick to
your paddle. To release the magnetic charge, press a mouse button.
|
|
Random Block Block

No, I didn't studder. This is the "Random Block"
Block, also affectionately known as the "HA" block. When you hit this
block, a bunch of random blocks will appear on the play field. They may
help you... and... they may not. The higher the level... more blocks are
generated!
|
|
Random Speed Change

This block is known to YABOG Connoisseurs as the
"weird" block. After this block has been hit, and until the ball is
lost, or a slow down is it... The ball will on occassion change speeds.
It could get faster. It could get slower. Whenever the ball changes
speeds the ball also slightly changes directions. You have been warned.
|
|
Slow Paddle

This block will cause the mouse sensitivity to
decrease which is essense causes your paddle to slow down. The first
couple hits shouldn't hinder you too much... but you hit several of
these and you are going to see your paddle moving in slow motion. I hope
you know how to pick you mouse up while mouseing...
|
|
Slow down ball

This block does just want it says it will. The
ball will slow down a bit. Then with another hit, a little slower...
then a little slower... yawn...
|
|
Speedup

This block will speed the ball up. Faster. faster,
and faster. This will definely test your reflexes!
|
|
Slow Paddle

The tail block will cause the ball to grow a tail!
No. Really! A tail of blocks will begin to form as the ball flies around
your screen. The higher the level that you are on, the longer the tail
will be! If you can get the ball to bounce correctly, you can use this
to your advantage... otherwise... let's not go there.
|
|
Slow Paddle

Beam me up Scotty... or over... or down... or
whever... This block will warp the ball somewhere on the play field.
Sometime this one can get ya right where ya want to be with very little
work... Other times it can put that ball in a spot that is darn hard to
get to.
|
|
Special Feature Block

Ahhhhh..... The special feature block. This block
is special. Very special. It works much like the invisible block,
except... sometimes it won't go away.. sometimes it will be somewhere
where it wasn't before... sometimes... it will just do funky things. Do
I dare say what this block really is???? Let me put it this way... "It's
not a bug, it's a feature!"
|
|
Multiple ball

This block like the name implies WOULD have split
into two balls so you would have had multiple balls going at one time...
As a matter of fact... The code is in the game. It just got cut, do to
speed considerations. After all there is only so much a 386-16 can do
with poorly programmed code... I just thought you may like to know what
you never got... But... there is always Ultimate YABOG (YABOG 2)
